Tui Na
Tui Na (pronounced twee-nah) has a recorded history in China of at least 4000 years and is one of the four components of Traditional Chinese Medicine, alongside the more familiar Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine and Qi Gong. Using manual pressure instead of needles, the qi points and meridians of the body are massaged, plucked and rubbed. The body is rocked and the limbs are shaken, gently pulled and rotated to encourage the release of muscular tension. The cross fibre plucking technique can be quite painful, but, very effective.
Tui Na is a DEEP TISSUE massage and not for the person who would like a luxuriating pampering experience. It is extremely effective as an on-site massage as 10mins can feel like 30mins of oil based massage!
